Voluntary Recall on Excedrin Migraine, Extra Strength, PM Headache, Tension Headache Caplets

This letter requests that you stop selling specific lots of Excedrin Migraine Caplets/Geltabs, Excedrin Extra Strength Caplets, Excedrin PM Headache Caplets, and Excedrin Tension Headache Caplets. GSK Consumer Healthcare has made a preliminary report to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission due to the possibility of having holes in the 50, 80, 100, 125, 200, 250 and 300count bottles supplied by the bottle manufacturer. There are no manufacturing issues with the caplets themselves, and all other products on the market are unaffected. Please note that this stop sale notice does NOT affect the 24-count bottles of Excedrin Extra Strength caplets and Excedrin Migraine caplets and geltabs.

Based on an internal review process and impact assessment, the probability of the presence of defective bottles is very low. In addition, the likelihood of detection of such a defect is very high, since each bottle is provided within a sealed carton. However, a hole in the bottle that is large enough for a caplet to fall through would breach the Child Resistance Senior Friendly design. This would pose the potential risk of ingestion by children.
